About Debbie

Debbie Gravett lives with her 2 daughters, husband, and black cat in mostly sunny Johannesburg, South Africa. Living here gives her magnificent landscapes, wildlife, and coastlines with crashing waves from which to draw energy and peace.

She loves words and the way she must wind her tongue around interesting ones to pronounce them. At school she was told her aptitude was for languages, but no, she had to become an IT developer. Although fulfilled by helping people in her role, words kept calling to her to play with them. She remembered a long-lost love of writing poetry and started a blog.

Ten years on, and the blog is still going, along with a few flash fiction pieces published in anthologies and several fiction novels lined up, which have been dropping little ideas and bits of information into her head for many years. These notes are being realized on pages, soon to be bound as books. Continuing with her love of poetry as well.

Debbie loves to travel around South Africa, especially the national parks filled with gorgeous wildlife, although she's still trying to see snakes as anything other than being after her. She tries to meditate every day, just to ground herself and do a check-in. It makes way for the words to whisper their ideas.

She writes to understand life and shares it to touch readers' souls, offering encouragement, hoping they will feel seen, heard, less alone, and motivated to keep going. She believes in magic, dreams, kindness, and lifting one another up - one sentence at a time.
